Florence Fournet is a Research Director at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) within the MIVEGEC Joint Research Unit (University of Montpellier, IRD, CNRS). Originally trained as a medical entomologist, she has progressively incorporated spatial approaches into her research to better assess environment–health relationships, particularly in urban settings. She has worked in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire on the socio-spatial disparities in the transmission of malaria and dengue in cities. Since 2023, she has been leading a research project aimed at assessing the impact of urban greening in Montpellier and Toulouse on the emergence of vector-borne diseases affecting humans, animals, and plants.
